natural dyeing

This week we dyed silk cloth, silk ribbon, and silk cording. We used blueberries, brazilwood with vinegar, and tumeric and that is why it is natural. All of the natural dyes were really neat but especially the blueberries. The blueberries were lots of fun because we got to mash them with a tenderizer. The mashed blueberries looked very cool. All of the silks came out really nice. The tumeric made the silks yellow. The blueberries made the silks purple. The brazilwood made the silks red but we added vinegar and it turned yellowish-orange. Dyeing the silks with natural dyes was really great.
